NOT! The sun becomes so generous in the summer that it doesn't stop
being so hot (not THAT hot!). Luckily, science bestowed us with air coolers to suit our needs.
Evaporative air coolers are so cool, literally! What makes them so cool, you may ask, aside from being physically
cool, is that they don't work like the other air conditioners. Just
like their name states, they use water's fast evaporating property to their advantage. By providing a specific amount of heat energy to the water as needed to make it vaporize, the evaporative air coolers become efficient. Each vaporized water droplet cools the air around it significantly. Since
dry air is easy to heat up or cool down, they need to use far less
energy. But when it comes to moist air, it becomes beyond easy!
Now many of you would mix up air coolers and air conditioners. They have a fine line of differences. Their advantages include:
- Energy saving: With no compressor in the setup (like traditional A/C has), the energy consumption would be a fraction of what an air conditioner would.Portability: This paves way for people who travel frequently to embrace its grace. There would be no reason to book a room with an air conditioner when you have something handy up your sleeve!
- Ease of installation and maintenance: These naïve air coolers do not require much and give so much! Being mechanically inclined may be a plus since you may be able to install its equipment yourself at lower cost while refrigeration equipment won't be cheap and requires professional skills to install.
- Ventilation of air: The room gains a healthy lung, literally! Since the air flow rate is set at such parameters. A pad contained exclusively within an air cooler is used to pass air through it. Their disadvantages would include:
- Performance: Lacking the technical design like refrigerated air conditioners doesn't allow air coolers to work better. High humidity in air may cause trouble for them with no dehumidification, unlike air conditioners that use their equipment to remove humidity.
- Comfort: The air supplied by air coolers contain up to 80-90% humidity and this can cause reduced evaporation rate from nose, skin etc. Alas, nothing is flawless.
Air coolers in UAE are also used in industries, factories and warehouses. Industrial air coolers are very
common and in some cases, necessary. Such cases would include meat
sections in supermarkets where cold temperature is required. In addition
to that, customers who experience air cooling in a store are more
naturally attracted to visit the place again, since stores need that
strong efficiency provided by air coolers.
Indoors
aren't the only place where there needs some cooling in Dubai, such as street
festivals, concert events, grilling or even camping. If the air outside
isn't extremely humid, outdoor air coolers may save the day. Coming with stylish
exteriors, they help keep you and your customers or guests refreshed and
at ease. In addition, outdoor air coolers also help repel mosquitoes.
They pull this off by creating such an air flow rate that it proves to be troublesome for these nasty bugs to hang around.
There
are times when a specific part of a room needs consistent temperature
instead of the whole room due to high cost of those pesky air
conditioners. It is then at this time spot air coolers sweep in. Being
